12 Best Heroes in 7.39d Meta

In 7.39d Ursa continues to be strong despite reductions to his Maul innate ability where the damage is teeny-tiny bit better during laning and way worse in the late-game as Maul no longer has scaling levels. So when building items like Aghs Scepter and Abyssal Blade, items that massively elevate your health, your damage gain from Maul is now less.

Somehow, Nature’s Prophet returns back as a Carry and even with nerfs to his Sprout, he still manages to stay on top as one of the best ranged Carry heroes in Dota 2. In 7.39d, NP’s Sprout nerfs were massive and are meant to minimize his lane dominance where the hero would be able to heal himself and a melee support like Undying, with his Saplings facet. They reduced Sprout’s healing and damage but seems like it’s not enough and mainly focused on Support Nature’s Prophet as the healing is significantly less for 5-man teamfights.

Heroes like Terrorblade and Shadow Fiend are good but Juggernaut is still reliable right now and there really is no wrong way to play him. The Bladestorm facet is old news where Juggernaut can have a fairly aggressive laning stage, combined with Lion or Shadow Shaman, to secure kills. This is because Blade Fury was buffed in its damage in its early levels and Bladestorm means by level 3, Juggernaut is dealing crit damage on Blade Fury with a point in his Blade Dance passive skill.

Queen of Pain received two bigs nerfs in 7.39d:
1. Blade Mail’s reduced passive damage return was decreased
2. Queen of Pain’s range for Max Lifesteal on her Succubus innate ability was dropped from 300 to 150 which means that Queen of Pain has to be in melee attack range to get the most of her Spell Lifesteal.

All of the heroes and items that Leshrac doesn’t like have been nerfed. Queen of Pain does a great job shutting Leshrac down. Dawnbreaker helps counteract the committed nature of Leshrac’s ganks and Blade Mail was nerfed which was used as a good way to punish Leshrac’s Diabolic Edict and Pulse Nova. All of these heroes and items have been nerfed which gives way for what Leshrac is best at: ganking isolated targets and bursting them down with his Diabolic Edict with the Misanthropy facet.

Puck’s still good. Nothing much more to say. 7.39d didn’t really change Puck all that much, so Puck still being good is for the same reasons as always: This hero has been meta for the entirety of 7.37, 7.38 and for 7.39 and mostly because the hero hasn’t really been touched in a meaningful way. You can tell that’s true because I’ve been using this same script for them all this time. Puck’s still a solid pick with most carries these days like Sven, Ursa and Juggernaut because Puck keeps the foes in a relatively close proximity so these ally carries can tear them down. More importantly, Puck’s ultimate ability has a relatively low cooldown compared to other heroes with actually decent right-click capabilities, so they rotate well and gank easily.

Yeah, the Blade Mail nerf in 7.39d doesn’t really bother Axe too much because it was for the passive reflected damage and Axe only really cares about the active component as that pairs well with his Berserker’s Call to punish his targets. It’s true he’ll farm maybe a bit slower with Blade Mail but most of that farming power came from Counter Helix and using Blade Mail’s active component when taking on stacked ancient camps.
